Victoria Skilled Migration Program started yesterday (07/07/2021)  

New Register of Interest (ROI) can be lodged now from 07/07/2021. Victoria has 3,500 subclass 190 places, and 500 subclass 491 places which is a great news.

However they will select the candidate who has a STEMM Skills. STEMM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics and Medicine.

Previous ROI will be removed. New ROI and also in some cases new EOI is required.

CRITERIA

  • Applicant must meet Department of Home Affairs 190 or 491 General Skilled Migration criteria. They must have at least 65 points. Higher points are not required.

  • Applicant must be currently living and working in Victoria. Working must be in STEMM area.

  • Applicant should be using their STEMM skills in the TARGET sector.

TARGET SECTORS

  • Health - In this sector, applicant can work in any occupation but in the health industries. Example, Software Developer working in a hospital.

  • Medical Research - Working in a medical research in Victoria.

  • Life Sciences - Working in a life science industries in Victoria. Example, a lecturer in biotechnology working in a university

  • Digital Sector - Currently nominating only Cyber Security skills applicant. However, other occupation applicant can apply if they are working in the other sectors. example, a software engineer working in a medical research sector. Other applicants in Digital Sector can be considered for 491 visa if they are working in other segments.

  • Agri-food - applicants must be using their STEMM skills to innovate within the sector, which could include research and development or advanced manufacturing.

  • Advance Manufacturing - This sector includes industries such as defence and aerospace. To be considered to be working in advanced manufacturing, you must be using your STEMM skills to enhance innovation. This could include activities such as research and development, design, supply chain management increasing global competitiveness through the use of technology.

  • New Energy, Emissions reduction and circular economy -  This sector includes industries such as clean energy, renewables, bioenergy, carbon capture and energy storage. Applicants could be using their STEMM skills to support efforts to reduce waste, cut pollution and protect the environment.

Also, applicants using their STEMM skills in a business precinct will be highly regarded.
