Job Ready Program

Trade Recognition Australia (TRA) is a platform that runs the Job Ready Program for International Students who hold Australian qualification issues by a CRICOS (Commonwealth Register of Institution and Courses for Overseas) a registered training organisation based on studies in Australia.

Steps of Job Ready Program

There are four main steps that apply to the Job Ready Program:

STEP 1 – The PROVISIONAL SKILL ASSESSMENT (PSA)

To be eligible to apply for PSA, you must have:

  • Held an international student visa to study in Australia
  • A completed qualification relevant to an occupation assessed by TRA and awarded by CRICOS
  • Evidence of a minimum of 360 hours of employment and/or a vocational placement relevant to your qualification and nominated occupation that was completed in an Australian workplace within three years prior to application submission.

A successful PSA Outcome can be used for your application to the Department of Home Affairs for a Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485).

A successful PSA outcome is required before you can apply for steps 2-4 for the JRP.

STEP 2 – THE JOB READY EMPLOYMENT (JRE)

The purpose of JRE is to enable you to gain experience in the Australian workplace in your relevant nominated occupation.

TO be eligible in JRE, you must:

  • have received a successful PSA outcome
  • normally hold or have lodged an application for a 485 visa (TRA will consider some exceptions to this)
  • have secured eligible employment
  • have less than 4 months remaining on your student visa.

You must work at least 1725 hours in a span of 12 months from your JRE start date in Australian workplace which has been approved by TRA. You will need to provide evidence of your pay for this job whereas have to maintain and complete a Job Ready Journal.

STEP 3 – THE JOB READY WORKPLACE ASSESSMENT (JRWA)

The purpose of JRWA is to determine whether you are working at the required skilled level in an Australian workplace for your nominated occupation. JRWA is conducted to assess your required activities performed and recorded in Quarterly Progress Reports (QPRs), Employment Verification Reports (EVRs) and any monthly reports.

To be eligible in JRWA, you must provide:

  • copies of pay evidence to substantiate you have been paid by your employer for at least 863 hours over a minimum of six months
  • Job Ready Journal covering a minimum of six months of employment approved by TRA.

STEP – 4 THE JOB READY FINAL ASSESSMENT (JFRA)

The JFRA is the final step of JRP. A successful JRFA outcome can be used as part of your application to the Department of Home Affairs for a  General Skilled Migration permanent residence visa (Subclass 189, 190 or 491).

To be eligible to apply for a JRFA you must have:

  • A successful Provisional Skills Assessment outcome (step 1)
  • A successful job ready employment outcome (step 2)
  • A successful Job Ready Workplace Assessment outcome (step 3)

and provide TRA with:

  • copies of payslips or other acceptable evidence to substantiate that you have been paid by your employer for at least 1725 hours over a minimum of 12 months (not including paid leave)
  • Quarterly Progress Reports, Employment Verification Report and any monthly journal covering at least six months of employment.

Benefits:

  • For any PR application, you must have a positive Skills Assessment from TRA
  • TRA requires 3 years of work experience but through JRP you just need 1 year of work experience for skilled assessment
  • If you already have 3 months of work experience, you require only 9 months of work experience for skill assessment
  • With positive skill assessment, the criteria of time for the license of many occupations is reduced
  • Once Skill Assessment is passed, you can lodge your PR/TR or Employer-Sponsored Visa (subclass 189, 190, 491, 494, 186, 482)
